KEILTY, Shaun (Sean) James

Sean passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Monday, April 12, 2021, while surrounded by family at Penticton Regional Hospital.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sharon Keilty (nee Babcook), his five children Timothy (Celia), Karen (Doug Smith), Thomas (Virginia (Jeni)), Mary Anne (John Grant) and Kathleen (David Foster); and his nine grandchildren Conor (Lauren Bucher), Shane (Sydney), Ryan, Nolan, Darren, Lauren, Kieran, Julia Foster, Hudson Foster and his great grandson Forest. Sean was born in Ottawa on June 6, 1939, the eldest of six children of Marion (Burns) and James Keilty. Sean is also survived by his sister Mary Anne Tinney and brother Rory and many more extended family. He was predeceased by his brothers, Seamus, Kerry and sister, Mary Colleen.

Sean was a kind, funny and friendly man, and a hard-working, devoted husband, father and grandfather. After Kitsilano High School, Sean was employed as a sheet metal worker. He later pursued a successful career in sales, including in the mining, equipment and real estate sectors. Sean enjoyed a variety of physical activity, including racquetball and hockey. He loved to skate, dance and play with his grandchildren. Sean was deeply committed to his faith.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Parish, 1296 Main Street, Penticton, on Apr 16, 2021 at 11a.m. Due to COVID-19, the in-person service will be limited, but can be attended virtually at

Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery at 12 p.m.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Haven Hill and nurses at the Penticton Hospital and Dr. De Kock for all of the compassionate care provided to Sean. The family also wishes to thank Father Obi Ibekwe for the compassionate ministry provided to Sean and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of British Columbia or the Registered Nurses Foundation of B.C.
