KAMMERER, Selma

KAMMERER, Selma

Selma Kammerer (nee Giesbrecht)
Selma passed away unexpectedly April 27, 2018 at Kelowna General Hospital surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.
Selma was born January 24, 1944 in the Ukraine. She spent part of her childhood in Germany, and then moved with her family to Canada where they settled in Vancouver, B.C. She married Fred in 1965 and started a family.
Selma and Fred moved to the Cariboo with their two children and soon welcomed a third. After almost two decades they moved back to the lower mainland for a time and then finally settled in Kelowna so she could be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Selma always had time for her family and like any Oma she made sure her beloved grandchildren never left the house hungry. She enjoyed quiet pursuits; reading, scrabble, crosswords, things she found both entertaining and challenging. She was especially happy to have found her green thumb and was always happy to show all her plants especially her orchids which were her favourites.
Selma is and will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years Fred, and her children; Eric (Monica), Tina (Darrell), Nik (Karen) and her grandchildren; Michael (Danica), Kialie, Kevy and Nathan.
Selma is survived by two sisters Helen and Elsa.
The Family will hold a Celebration of Life at a future date.

I am sorry for your loss. I do not know if Selma is the same girl I knew from Vancouver on 19th Avenue and Clarke Drive. If it is, we went to school together. I also lived on 19th Avenue just two homes away, in the very next block. I remember her as tall and slim with very long hair. She was a nice young girl and we would walk home together from school. Condolences to the family.
