JOHNSTON, Chris Richard "Jack"

JOHNSTON, Chris Richard

Jack Johnston (March 21, 1939 - November 25, 2017)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jack. He died surrounded by the love of his family, after a lengthy illness.

He leaves to mourn, the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Edna. From the moment he first saw her riding her horse he was in love. He was so serious he learned to ride so he could meet her. Though he was successful in his pursuit of her, it wasn't because of his riding skills. They were married in Fairview Alberta on July 20, 1959. They moved from Northern Alberta to Kelowna in 1973, and they raised their family here in the Okanagan surrounded by horses and dirt bikes.

Also left behind are his eldest daughter Lianna (Troy), his son Duane (Lisa), and his youngest daughter Jackie (David). His grand-boys Ryan, Tanner, Cole, Kaden, and Matthew. Though these were the children of his marriage, many, many more called him dad and papa. He loved them all like they were his, and each are better people for knowing him. They are his legacy and the sun rose and set on all of them. He made us all feel like we were his favourite.

He was predeceased by both parents and his oldest brother.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Westbank Lion's Community Centre, 2466 Main Street, West Kelowna, BC on Monday December 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm. All who knew him are welcome.

His extended family is vast both by blood and friendship, the impact he had on those he touched won't soon be forgotten.

Arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, West Kelowna Arrangement Centre. 250-768-8925

I knew Jack ever since he became head groomer at Telemark in the early 1990s. I pretty well saw and spoke with Jack and Edna most days during the XC ski season. They did a lot for Telemark and pretty well ran the place in it's formative years.

I had great respect for both.

Jack loved his family more than anything else. My family have both known Jack and his family since 1973. Jack could do anything, his life revolved around his family in everything. Jack and his wife Edna helped everyone that needed there help anytime anywhere and they made friends along the way as well.

Rest in peace Jack, we love you.
