I had the privilege of working for Rick for over 20 years at Heartwood. Rick was an inspirational person in my life with his vision, ability to adapt, knowledge, talents and drive was amazing to witness. Anyone who got to really know him respected him. He would go out of his way to help me out at work or for personal projects and in the community with the Fire Department where he had an undeniable passion. My thoughts and condolences to Rose, Tanya, Seung Chul, Sue and Tom as you grieve for your lose. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

    Rose, Tanya, Sueng Chul,
Charlene and I are at a loss for words to express our deepest and sincerest sympathy to you and your extended families. Rick was my friend, my mentor and my brother. He was always present to lend a hand and to use any excuse to utilize his 1961 American LaFrance ladder truck, even to move furniture into/out of condominiums. Rick was a well respected, proud husband, father, brother, friend. His talent and love for building with oak is clearly evident in the work done on the 1928 Graham Brothers Hook & Ladder truck. All who have had the privilege to have known and worked with Rick will miss him dearly. I know that on Friday night, God opened the "Fire Hall Doors" to welcome him home.

On behalf of Cinnemousun Beach Properties residents, we really appreciated Rick's willingness to provide fire prevention drills for our community...always informative and entertaining. On a personal note, I didn't know Rick all that well, but both being members of old Kelowna families, I would bang into him on occasions and catch up with him...mostly about his trucks, of course.
    Cherish your memories,

It is with sadness I would like to send my condolences to Rose and family.
I was the receptionist and assistant to Rick at Heartwood. Rick taught me many things that I still use today for that I am thankful. RIP Rick and yes I enjoyed his stories about his fire trucks and one that holds a spot with me, he delivered my daughter and her friend to their Prom and what a entrance it was.

Rick was an amazing mentor and friend for many years. He embodied the true spirit of volunteerism. His commitment and passion for the fire service inspired so many people. Without his support and encouragement I would not be where I am today. He was selfless with his time, always there if you needed advice, or even better if you wanted to talk about fire trucks. My deepest condolences to Rose, Tanya, Sueng Chul and all members who had the privilege of being a part of this man's life. His legacy lives on in the heart of many fire fighters.
