JANICKI, George Kazmir

JANICKI, George Kazmir

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce Gampie has officially “Gone Golfing”. George passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his side. He was pre-deceased by his parents Mary and Jim Janicki and father-in-law Joseph Pitura. He was the loving husband of 48 years to Darlene Janicki, dedicated father of Tracie (Dwayne), Trevor (Louann) and proud grandfather of Jordan, Taylar, Kaedence, Karington, Kallico and Bradley. A beloved big brother to Richard (Marilyn) Janicki. Exceptional caring son in law to Doreen Pitura. George leaves behind in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Born in Stuttgart, Germany he immigrated with his family to Canada. He grew up in Madsen, Ontario, married his high school sweetheart Darlene, and they eventually settled in Sudbury, Ontario. Upon his graduation from Halibury School of Mines, George was employed as a Geologist with Inco LTD for 30 years before retiring to the sunny Okanagan. He took pride in his family, his friends, was always warm and welcoming, and had a drink waiting for them. George himself was an all-round athlete in his younger years and could be found in Kelowna at the numerous hockey rinks and soccer fields cheering on his grandchildren and showing tremendous support. Gampie’s pool was always meticulously maintained with the help of grandson Jordan his Pool Foreman.
George was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus.
We would like to thank all George’s health care team for their expertise and compassion.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in George’s name to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation at http://www.bcchf.ca/donate/give-in-honour-or-in-memory or 1-888-663-3033.
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com
Prayers are appreciated. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date to be announced.
Arrangements entrusted to Valleyview Dignity Memorial, 250-765-3147

Have been out of the loop for a while, but wanted you to know Darlene and family how sorry we were to hear of George's passing. His family and mine were neighbors in Madsen while we were growing up. He will be remembered and missed for the way he got the news out to everyone about any special Red Lake happenings . We recall our last visit with you in Kelowna a few years ago along with Robert Shabatura and your Mom, it was such a nice gathering. Take care and cherish the memories.

Who can help us organize the mine's golf tournament? Who can look after the tour of high-profile visitors? Who can help us organize the mine's curling bonspiel? Who can get great ore samples for the guys retiring? At our mine, the answer was always Janicki. AND, he did it while still maintaining his usual high standard of job performance. A very well respected man, remembered by many. Sincerest condolences Darlene, Tracie, Trevor and families.

Tracie and family, we are so sad to hear of your dad passing. I would love to look up into the hockey stands and see your dad watching you and I play. I would tease your dad about his perfect lawn. I called him the "lawn whisperer" and let's not forget his "Bill Cosby" sweaters! When we look up in the hockey stands now, we will just have to look a lot higher and know that our dads are watching. Thinking of you, Kathleen and Carrie
