IN MEMORIAM: HOWE, Deborah Sharon

HOWE, DEBORAH SHARON... Dec 8, 1952 - Sept 10, 1969.

You were taken from us so sudden, we never said good-bye.
Our hearts were broken on that day .. you left us all to cry.
The life you never got to live, the memories too few;
The tragedy that took you from us, the sorrow grew and grew.

    I remember playing grass hockey with Deb. She was very good at it being so tall. She was an amazing person and am sure she is missed and loved more today than the day before. That day for all that lived in Rutland was the worst day of everyone's life. So sad for the families and all of their friends. Prayers are with you all.

    How fragile life is and what a horrible tragedy this was. We used to wait for the bus with Donna in Ellison. Such beautiful girls. So many lives forever changed. Our thoughts are with all the families of these young girls whom I am sure are dearly missed. Hugs from Ann-Marie (Heemskerk) Reimer

    Debbie was in a few of my classes and I have thought of her and the other girls often over the years.....as the saying goes...gone but never forgotten.

    That day is forever in my heart and mind as I was in the car following and experienced the crash right before my eyes. Three young women gone in an instant and I know how fragile this precious life is. Linda Hansen (Madsen)

    You all were neighbours of ours I think it was on Jaschinsky Road. We hung out with you guys a bit. Deborah was older than I was but I remember how devastating it was when we heard the tragic news. She was so beautiful! Juanita (Charlesworth) Straub.

    I remember that day so well. It is hard to believe it was 50 years ago.

    I was in grade 7 at the elementary school across the street from Rutland high. It was clear that something awful had happened. The grief on everyone's faces showed the devastation that hit the students and teachers that day.

    I will be thinking of Debbie, Donna and Karen's families today. Hearts were broken and I think a whole community felt your grief. We were all touched in some way , whether we went to school with the siblings or worked with the family members. All of Rutland felt the grief. My heart still hurts when I think of what happened and I will be thinking of the Howe, Chutskoff and Krogel families today.
