EVANS (NEE DOROZIO), Donna Lynn

EVANS (NEE DOROZIO), Donna Lynn

August 24,1951 - January 22, 2022

Our beloved Donna - Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunty, Cousin, Friend - has left this world and has gone to be with her Dad and Mom after many years, in heaven. Mother to Dean (Kyla) and Devray, and Gramma to Charlie. Beloved sister to David (Donna), Kathleen (Brian), Matthew (Marilyn), Paul (Janice), Louise (Jerry), Benny (Mona), Lisa (Ian), Randy (Joyce). Aunty to many nieces and nephews.

Donna graduated from North Surrey Secondary High in 1969, winning accolades for 'best all-around student.' From there she studied Education, earning her teaching degree in 1975. She worked hard at Safeway to pay her way through university. Her illustrious teaching career spanned 36 years. She began in 1975 at Rutland Secondary in Kelowna and then moved to the Langley school district; where she taught in the hospital homebound program, and was a resource teacher at Brookswood Secondary and at Walnut Grove Secondary School. She touched thousands of students' lives, in countless ways.

Donna had the gift of making all of her students feel worthy and dignified.

She retired in 2011 and went on to serve her community by volunteering. Donna volunteered at Langley Hospice, Langley Seniors Village, and Cares Cat Shelter. The cats that were fortunate enough to be in her care were loved and cherished. She even came home with a few over the years. Donna was a bright light in all our lives. She had a generous heart, the kindest of smiles, infectious laugh and everyone was welcome in her home. She was a mentor to everyone, and would jump to help anyone no matter what.

Donna loved her family more than anything in the world. She cherished her time with her special grandson Charlie, who was the light of her life.

She was an avid scrabble player, Law and Order devotee and loved the beaches of Hawaii, Mexico, Kelowna and Barriere.
The family would like to extend special thank-yous to the staff at Langley Hospital, Surrey Memorial Hospital, Laurel Place and the many friends and family members who came to help and support the family at this time.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to CARES Cat Shelter, or an animal rescue of your choice.

A celebration of Donna's beautiful life will be held at Henderson's Funeral Home-20786 Fraser Highway, Langley B.C. on Monday Jan 31, 2022, 11:00 am.
After the service there will be an outdoor gathering at Danny Evan's residence: 21758 86 A Avenue, Langley BC.
Covid protocols will be in place.
