HARRIS, Edna Theresa

HARRIS, Edna Theresa

HARRIS, Edna Theresa born in Winnipeg in 1928 passed away peacefully at Kelowna Hospice House on Oct 17, 2021. Survived by loving son Monte (Janet), brother John Brown and sister Evelyn Enquist and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill of 55 years in 2003, sisters Margery, Mollie, Agnes and brother Bill. Edna's husband was a member of the RCAF and together they lived a wonderful, full life. They had great fun at all the bases they were posted to over the years. There were colourful experiences from the polar bears in Churchill, the bitter cold of Snag, Yukon (which still boasts the coldest recorded temperature in North America) to Goose Bay, Labrador, Foymount, Ontario and Winnipeg. They treasured their 4 1/2 years in Germany and all that the European culture had to offer. In 1988 they settled in Kelowna and loved the beauty and people of the Okanagan. Up to this past summer, Edna worked in Monte’s Golf Shop helping out in any way she could. She loved the daily contact with the customers and because of her sociable and caring nature she was a friend to all. Many thanks to Dr. Naude and all the wonderful people at Interior Health and Hospice House who helped so much to make her last days more comfortable. Thank you as well to all her relatives and many friends in Kelowna and throughout Canada who have been so supportive.
Due to Covid restrictions, there will not be a service at this time.

Monty and Janet, there are never enough words to express the sadness of your mom's passing. Your mom was so kind and compassionate to me and always worried that I was working too hard. We had a lot of good conversation and laughs too. I've been very fortunate to have had this time with your mom. She is truly a precious lady. I will miss her very much. Hugs.

Monty and Janet, What a lovely photo of Edna to remember her by. She was a very good friend and neighbour. Edna had an amazing memory and always had stories to tell about where her and Red had lived. She enjoyed working at the Golf Store with Monty and loved interacting with all the people that went to the store. Edna was very proud of you both. Edna will be missed by so many people. Our condolences to you both. Love Jean & Gordon Mumford

Lovely picture of a lovely Lady. So thankful that I had the privilege of running into her this summer. We had a nice chat and I missed those visits I had with her in the bank. Bill and Edna were gracious customers that I was lucky enough to serve. Condolences to her family whom she spoke of with so much love.. Linda Cichon

So sorry to hear of Edna's passing. Our condolences go out to all her family. We met Auntie Edna for a brief time in 2013 as we passed through Kelowna with Mike and Judy. She was a lovely lady, kind and hospitable-we even celebrated my birthday with Monte and Janet too. I'm sure she will be missed dearly.

Monty and Janet, so sorry to read of Edna's passing. She was a very special and classy lady with whom I had the privilege of interacting with especially after Bill passed away. She had a great wit and was a treat to have any kind of discussion with. You both included her in all that you did which was part of the strong family that you grew up in. She will be missed by all that knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Hugs to you both.
