Sharon Louise Harrington (Chute)

In the late hours of Dec 17th, Shari passed suddenly but surrounded by the love of her entire family.

Shari is survived by her husband of 60 years Gary, daughters Sandy and Michelle (Don), and son Rob (Sherry). Her grandchildren whom she adored so much: Tara, Samantha, Danielle, and Jeffrey. Further, she is survived by two of her Aunts: Violet and Lorraine as well as many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cousins.

Shari was predeceased by her mother Beverly (Gordie), her father Herbert and brother Brian.

Shari was born, raised and educated in Dauphin, Manitoba. After graduation, she worked at Dennison Motors and met Gary in 1959 where it was love at first sight. They married in 1961, the start of a 60 year journey through life. Having their first child Sandy in Dauphin, they relocated to Morden for a brief stop and their second daughter Michelle, before moving to Treherne, Manitoba where they had their son Rob and spent 23 wonderful years with countless friends and close ties to the community. In Treherne, Shari raised their 3 children and worked with Gary in both the Esso and Insurance businesses.

From there, they set off on their next journey to Kelowna, BC where they have spent the last 33 years. In Kelowna, Shari started a Hallmark business and ran it for 20 years before retiring. She could go no where in town (or elsewhere) without being recognized as the Hallmark Lady!

Shari was the consummate hostess and loved to entertain friends and family for all of life’s events.

She absolutely loved her grandchildren and would not miss an activity with them.

Shari was a Life Time member of the Kinette Service club, an honour for her countless hours of community service.

Shari will be dearly missed by all that knew her for she was a truly wonderful and caring person.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shari’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A service will be held on Wednesday December 29, at 11:00 am at First Memorial Funeral Service, 1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna. A Livestream of the Service will be accessible 10 minutes prior to the service on Sharon’s obituary page at www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com

I cannot put into words how sad I am to hear of the passing of my dear friend. Bob and I spent many happy times with Gary and Shari ,be it on the boat, camping ,ball tournaments hockey tournaments and golfing to name a few. Sharon was a treasure.

Dear Gary, Sandy,Michelle and Rob, I am truly heartbroken to read of Sharon’s passing. She was a truly beautiful person, both inside and out. Her smile was so heartwarming. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Gary and Sharon several times in the past couple of months when they visited the insurance office I work in. The last time I ran into them was just a few short weeks ago in the hallway at Capri Mall. Always such a gracious person.

I only met her a few times but she seemed like the perfect mom and you must all feel so blessed to have had her in your lives. We have lost a great pal. We first met Gary & Shari Jan 1989 when we moved to Kelowna and have been close friends since. We’ve laughed, cried and holidayed together for many years. Many great memories and Shari was always the outgoing leader of the group. She has been a great mother to her kids and a greater gramma to her grandkids. To say she will be missed is an understatement as Wendy & I are still trying to realize our friend is gone.

It was with a heavy heart and shock to read of Sharon's passing. Like everyone has mentioned, she was a lovely lady and always had time for a quick chat wherever you saw her and Gary. Her Hallmark store was the best, but she was the reason I went there! Another sad loss for our Kin family. Our condolences to Gary and all members of your family. You will have so many wonderful memories of Sharon to hold dear to your heart.
