HANET, Alphonse Julius

HANET, Alphonse Julius

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Alphonse Hanet.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 23 2024 at the age of 88 years old.

Al is survived by his sister Benita Pincin (Peter), also survived by his 3 children Linda Cain (Gordon), Debbie Cairney (Darryl), Brian Hanet (Sherri), 7 grandchildren, Nicola, Gina, Joshua, Tanis, Shelby, Austin, and Aaron, also 2 great grandchildren, Stella, and Bria.

Al was born and raised in Kelowna and spent most of his life in the Okanagan valley.

He spent a large portion of his retirement participating in lawn bowling, representing

Canada at numerous Commonwealth games, and earned several gold medals.

Al knew how to light up a room just by walking in. He will be greatly missed by all the people’s lives he touched.

By Al’s request there will not be a service. His family will honor his wishes by gathering to

celebrate and remember his legacy at a later date. Condolences can be shared through

Bowers Funeral Services, www.bowersfuneralservice.com.

Uncle Al was such an inspiration for the blind community as well as to all of us. He was always independent and not only travelled the world, but would make his way around Kelowna using public transportation to visit friends and family. I’ll miss his sense of humour and kindness. I enjoyed the times we met at McDonalds with “the group”. Rest easy, Uncle, you’re with your brothers now. Sharon

    To the Hanet family,

I was recently in the hospital and saw your father every day. He always smiled and we gestured as best as we could.

My deepest condolences to your family.
