GUY, Gypsy Maurice

GUY, Gypsy Maurice

Gypsy Maurice Guy aka "Popeye"

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. He passed in the early hours of March 22, 2019, at Gray Nuns hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

Maurice was born on March 2, 1945 in Sudbury Ontario, where he spent his early life. He had a strong work ethic from a young age that he carried throughout his life. He worked in Trucking, Construction, Body Guarding and eventually owned his own pressure washing business in Kelowna. He also traveled extensively.

Gypsy married Joanne on July 1, 1978. He had two children, Jennifer and Peter(m.Meghan), and was a proud Grandpa to Raistlin and Quinn. His Family was everything to him, and he was so precious to us.

Maurice is Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Edna Guy, and his siblings Fernand, Mary, Laurette, Desmond, Percy, Lionel, and Gerard. He will be fondly remembered by his remaining siblings Carmen, Helene (Gerard), Irene, Diane (Les), Jeannette (Dave), and Yvette.

Gypsy always enjoyed a good story, and since he didn't want a service or fuss of any kind, we ask that you get together with family and friends over a good cup of coffee and enjoy some time reminiscing and telling stories.

We have received some lovely bouquets, Thank You All, they are beautiful. If you feel you want to do something, please donate to COPD, CHF, or a Cancer foundation, in Gypsy's name.

Think of Gypsy Maurice with a smile on your face and the love you had for him in your heart.

So sorry to hear of the passing of my old boss and old friend. I had many exciting and interesting times working for Popeye. Lots of stories to tell there. I worked for him for over 10 years. He was more like a brother and a father to me than a boss. He was a wonderful man and it was a privilege to know Popeye and work for Popeye.

My condolences to Joanne, Jen and Peter.

    Love you, Emery

I'm sorry to hear of Popeyes passing. I was lucky enough to be his business neighbor for many years and enjoyed his friendship and advise. Popeye always had a story and a smile around the coffee pot and kept funny hours so we never had theft problems back then because nobody knew what time of day or night he would be around the shop. Very proud to have been his friend, I will never forget him. Andy AGT AUTOMOTIVE

I was so sorry to hear Popeye passed on. He was one of the hardest working men I knew. Honest and fair, he loved passing along little gifts like laser flashlights or small tape measures. He quite often sat in my office telling old stories of his very eventful life, he had so many really good stories, they were quite amazing. We will all miss Gypsy's smile and good nature. Had the pleasure of meeting Popeye when I worked in maintenance at the Studmill. Don't recall him having a bad day. Did a good job, was prompt and was fun to have a conversation with. Sorry to hear of his passing. We need more like him.

So sorry to hear. My condolences to Joanne, Jen and Peter. I was saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Popeye.

I can remember 29 years ago meeting Popeye when my mother Rose introduced us. This meeting was a friendship that lasted the distance I will cherish the memory of those long talks about the who's who of Kelowna. He will always be greatly remembered. God speed my friend.
