Funeral Homes Submit ObituaryGREENHOUGH, Stuart Mark - updated with service information

My best friend became my guardian angel on October 22nd, 2024, in West Kelowna, BC. Stu suffered a very fast progression of Vascular Dementia.
Stu was born May 27, 1951, in Hamilton, ON. He moved to Winnipeg in 1967 where we met in high school. We were married after graduation in 1971 and welcomed our son, Michael, later that year. Stu worked at Xcan Grain Ltd. as a bookkeeper full-time and Gilmore Texaco part-time. In 1974, we moved to Kelowna, BC where he held various jobs until being hired to the accounting department at the RDCO, where he worked for 30 yrs before retirement. In 1975 we welcomed our daughter, Kerri, followed by a move to Westbank, BC in 1976.
Stu leaves behind, to mourn his passing, myself (Joanne) his wife of 53 years, our son Michael (Jane and grandson Liam), and our daughter Kerri (Francisco). He also leaves his siblings: brother Terry (Indira), sister Jaki (Steve), brothers Ron and Art. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law George (Debbie), brother-in-law Tom (Wilhelmina), brother-in-law Henry (Lanea), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rev. Arthur Greenhough (2010) and Ruth (Gibbons) (2022), his father-in-law Ed Kliner (2020), mother-in-law Ruth (Burron) (2000) and sister-in-law Marilyn (2010).
He was a loving, loyal, supportive and protective husband to me and a strong, father figure to his children and their spouses, and he especially loved his Grandson, Liam. He will be missed beyond measure by his immediate and extended family.
Stu lived his life to the fullest. He played, managed and refereed hockey for most of his life starting at a young age. He became a Transport Canada rated commercial pilot with night and float endorsements, as well as a Transport Canada rated Marine Master Limited and captained the Kelowna Cruises houseboats on Okanagan Lake. He served as the president and long-term member of the Kelowna Flying Club, flying his Grumman AA5 Traveller. In addition to airplanes and houseboats, Stu drove gravel trucks, and snowplows, motorcycles and motor boats and his treasured lawn tractor.
Stu served as church treasurer and long term choir member at Westbank United Church. He sang in the Kelowna Ogopogo Barbershop choir. He was also a member and president of the Westside Citizens Patrol, logging more than 500 hours.
We are thankful for the staff of Brookhaven who supported our family and assisted Stu in his final hours, with much compassion and respect. A special thank you to a long time family friend Nirmal for her continuing care and attention to Stu and Joanne through the years.
There will be a Memorial Graveside at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Westbank Cemetery, 3200 Elliott Road, West Kelowna, BC. A reception will follow at the Greenhough family home. Please join us as we gather to remember Stu.

My most heartfelt and sincere condolences. Stu was a staple in my childhood growing up. Whether with the church of our piano lessons. One of my favourite memories was when you had needed a new fridge or water heater and my parents came to help. My brother and I used that box to surf your stairs for hours! Stu taught us we could do that and I have now done it with my boys.
Thank you for the years of smiling faces and kind words. May he rest in peace ??

Joanne, Michael and family and Kerri.
We are so sad to hear of Stu’s passing away.
Stu was a very good friend during our time working together at the RDCO. We enjoyed many conversations and laughs together. I will always cherish the times that Stu took me for a flight in his airplane and then later encouraged my son Dean, to achieve his pilots license.
Even though we have not spent much time with Stu since our retirements from the RDCO he often came up in my thoughts.
I hope that you will soon find peace in your grief and bereavement.
