FRASER, Verna

It is with sincere sadness the family of Verna Fraser announces her passing on Monday September 17, 2018 while in her 97th year. Lovingly known as Gug to her family, Verna was predeceased by her husband Douglas and survived by daughters Margaret Brierley, Linda Long, Marsha Winters (Bill), Donna Girard (Kenny) and son David Fraser (Carol) plus 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Born in 1922 in Dauphin, Manitoba, Verna also lived in Saskatchewan and Ontario before settling in Kelowna in 1992. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends at Hawthorn Park where she has lived since 1993. A private family inurnment will take place in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery . To all Aunt Verna's family,

I didn't know Aunt Verna well, but the times we did meet I thought she was a lovely person. My mom really enjoyed the time she spent in Kelowna with Aunt Verna and her family and I have some of the crazy photos on my bookcase.

To Verna's family,

I am very sorry to hear of her passing but feel solace in having been in contact with her just before she left. She was a gem. Passionate about life and her freedom to scoot around Kelowna! Verna was a graceful lady, eager to meet new people and I am blessed to have known her for a very short time of 6 years. The wonderful photo your family selected was from our "veggie" garden, when her and Helene and I got together for lunch. She loved the "real" tomatoes that grow in our garden. I will miss her and think of her often.

I did meet Verna at Hawthorn pool too and we became friends. What a lady! She was an inspiration to me. I will miss you Verna but you will always be in my heart. Yes, I am happy that she lived. Helene Letnick
