FICKE, Henry William

FICKE, Henry William

FICKE, Henry William
20 December 1936 - 13 January 2021

Henry passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC at the age of 84.
He is predeceased by his wife Louise and eldest son Chris, and survived by his two daughters and son, Patti (Greg), Donna (Rick) and Rod.
Missing him dearly are his siblings Dorothy, Frank (Bernice), Gordon (Patricia), Ronald (Monika) and Rosemarie.
This man whose branches reach out with children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. Where this tree that gave us shelter and protection had those leaves now reflect the fall season of his life. We have seen your glow. You were wonderful.
He lived a full life. One where plenty of memories were always storied in most conversations. He loved where he came from. The patterns of life are at times not straight and place us on paths of discovery and adventure.
Henry was true to that.
Working the farm with his twin brother and father brought involvements of discipline, but came with the intrigue of tractors, cattle, and horses. Those early years of difficult times are the callus that grows the boy into a man.
This life would also bring the blessing of an extended second family, with the amazing addition of more brothers and a sister to love.
Henry’s dedications in life would soon blossom his involvements with Country in the Canadian Armed Forces. Including his commitments to Church as a Deacon and showing his leadership by being a Scout Master. His love of food and cooking would literally take him down the road. A road where Henry proved to himself that his daily jogs would lead him across a full marathon finish line. You have made the final push and have completed this run of life. Well done.
This is a brother. This is a husband. This is a father.
We have received your giving and felt your love.
Thank you for being part of all our lives.
Go to the God who made you, the potter who loves you more.

Due to COVID restrictions there will be no funeral at this time.

Heartfelt condolences to the Ficke family. I'm sure that would be shared by many of the WestKelowna families who have been deeply moved through one of Henry's homilies at a Celebration of Life at Brookhaven Care Centre over the years. Such a caring and humble servant of Christ Jesus.

I shed a little tear as learned of Mr Ficke's passing. I got to know him during my University days at Overwaitea. He always had a smile, a fun story to share, as he soon learned my passion for history, and love for our little town of Westbank. It has been many many years since those Overwaitea days but some customers you never forget, regardless if they had a name well known family name. I remembered Mr Ficke because of who he was a person, lovely, genuine and sweet. My deepest condolences to the Ficke family on the loss of your wonderful Brother, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Cousin. May he rest in peace. Celena Simms nee Teigen

Pat, Donna, Rod and families so sorry for your loss. Hugs to all.. A little tear was shed today as I reflected on dear Uncle Hank.. he will forever be known as Uncle Hank, we so appreciated his letters and momentos while serving in his peace keeping duties overseas. Time and distance took it's toll on relationships. Love to all, may your memories bring comfort.. Marion
