FAULKNER (NEE FREDRIKSON), Yvonne Marie

In Loving memory of Yvonne Marie Faulkner (nee Fredrikson) who was born on September 22, 1959. Yvonne passed away peacefully, surrounded and held dearly by family on June 22, 2017 in Kelowna, British Columbia.

It is with profound sadness and total disbelief that I announce the sudden passing of my beloved and forever cherished Yvonne.

She was predeceased by her loving mother, Dolly Fredrikson in 1968 and her very dear middle sister, Susan Huberfellner in 2004.

Yvonne leaves her husband, soulmate and partner in all life

As a Master Gardener our membership will be diminished without Yvonne. She was the true embodiment of our purpose. Her kind and lovely soul will be missed. I always looked forward to seeing and talking to her at our gardening meetings. Jane Gates

There are so few words to adequately describe Yvonne. She touched every person she knew in profoundly positive ways. Yvonne saw the very best in situations and people, and bubbled with contagious enthusiasm for all the things she loved, especially plants and pollinators. A better example of courage, grace, dignity and single minded determination could not be found as Yvonne accepted her diagnosis and quickly moved on to finding the best possible result from it while simultaneously making sure her family and friends were cared for.

I'll miss you so much, my dear gardening partner. May you rest in peace knowing how many lives you've touched including those to whom you've given the gift of life.

    Di

    Beloved Yvonn, Dan and family,

Fourteen years ago, we arrived to Canada and Kelowna, as new comers and immigrants. No family no friends. We knew no one. As soon as we met Yvonne and Dan, (I believe it was during one of the tennis tournaments) they "adopted" us.

Yvonne, who unfortunately knew from her own life experience, what is like being "familyless", didn't wait too long before she added us among your friends, who you called "our family" always made sure that we were not alone in holidays. When we finally did become Canadian residents, you and Dan insisted you come to honour us in the ceremony (and, sure enough, you made sure we had pictures from the ceremony).

Every Thanksgiving you would arrange a big feast in your beautiful, warm, very pleasant home to celebrate and appreciate together the friendship and love we all shared. Very often, you found other reasons to invite everybody over.

On Tennis tournaments you always brought snacks and goodies enough to feed the whole tournament! As well, as checking about hotels and trying to make sure that we were all staying together! Of course you were the one who informed Asher about every coming up tournament and helped him register etc and you'd make sure to take as many pictures as you can, which were on our emails, before we even made it home!

And Indian Wells...very interested about everything. What it's like to live in Israel, how our kids are, what do they do, are they happy.

Always smiling, happy, good moods, good sport. (Once you both announced that you never partner in mixed doubles again, because your were so mad with one another, but happily enough, very soon you partnered again and no more frustrations over a bad play- after all, it's just a sport and should be fun.)

Loving and caring for everything: people, nature, environment, society, art (always wondered how you found time for so many occupations and interests). Such optimistic, always see the bright side of everything, never complain, just appreciate everything you gained. And you did gain a lot!

And on top of all, what a beautiful couple you and Dan made together. Accomplishing one other, caring to one another, same interests, same hobbies. Yvon is so excited about the garden, the insects, nature, preservation and Dan is joining happily and helping make a dream come true with four creative hands, minds, hearts and soul.

How many times did you ask to take care of Dan. He's going to need you. No one will ever be able to replace you, Yvonne, but we promise to do our best.

We already miss you, Yvonne. We miss you sooooooooo much. And Dan, we love you.

    Tamar, Asher, Uri, Tom, Amit

Dan & family, I am so shocked & saddened to hear about Yvonne. I go back to Crafters Marketplace days when we all admired her beautiful painted items, we gathered quite a collection of them & on closing the store she gave me a very large painted rock that I have always treasured. Yvonne was always extremely kind, generous & thoughtful & I know she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was so proud of Billy, (my eldest son is almost the same age & we would chat for ages about 'our boys'). I will always remember her & my thoughts are with you.

My heart is heavy hearing of the passing of Yvonne. If there was a more caring and kinder woman on this earth then I haven't met her. Yvonne could and did bring out the best in everyone she came in contact with. Her smile and positive attitude could transform bad day into a glorious sunny day. Dan... I will miss the Thanksgiving Day dinners you 2 would graciously host and share with so many of your friends. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and Billy at such a difficult time.
