DRAY, David Alan

DRAY, David Alan

February 19, 1963 – February 18, 2019

Dave passed away February 18th at the age of 55 with his wife Natalie by his side. Our hearts are broken, and dreams are shattered as we say “see you later” to the kindest most giving man we have ever known. Dave met his soulmate Natalie in 1985 and married in 1987. His pride and joy were his two boys Brandon (29) and Justin (27). Family was first and foremost to Dave, including his many “extra” sons. Brandon’s wife Chantelle finally became a Dray in June 2016. Dave was ecstatic to become a grandpa to baby Nova in August 2018 and had many dreams of watching her grow up.

Dave’s career with the City of Kelowna spanned almost 32 years. He became a friend to everyone he worked with and they became his work family. His goal was to retire in April and begin living HIS life working on his property, travelling and playing with Nova the “apple of his eye”.

Dave’s last three months were spent in KGH, with his last day being in Hospice with his wife Natalie by his side. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses on 3 East, 4B, ICU and Hospice House for all of their compassion and amazing care.

Dave is survived by his loving family; wife Natalie, sons Brandon (Chantelle), Justin, granddaughter Nova, siblings Debbie (Doug), Bob (Lorette), In-laws Mel and Sharon Zummack, Todd (Jodi), Scott (Sheilagh) many nieces and nephews, extended family, many friends, and his fur babies. He was predeceased by his parents Alan and Shirley Dray.

It’s not “Goodbye”, it’s “See You Later” .... We love you Dave!

A celebration of life for my soulmate Dave Dray will be held May 25, 2019 1-4 pm at the Joe Rich Community Hall. Applies, coffee, tea, punch will be provided. Please bring a lawn chair and your own alcohol if you are wanting a beverage. This is a time to honor Dave's memory with your stories of an amazing man taken from us too soon. The hall is located at 11481 Hwy 33 Kelowna BC RSVP to [email protected] or messenger on Facebook by May 4, 2019

    To Natalie and family,
I was very sad to hear that Dave passed away. Dave and I started our careers with the city about the same time and worked very closely together for the last years before I retired. Most of our non work conversations revolved around our respective families. My thoughts and those of many others who knew and worked with Dave are with you at this difficult time.
    Sincerely,
    Ed Kinnear
