DOLMAN, Kathryn

DOLMAN, Kathryn

Kathryn Anne Dolman (Edwards)
April 24, 1942 – November 27, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn Anne Dolman (Edwards), a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and cherished member of the community. Kathy passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, surrounded by her family and the love of those she touched throughout her life, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on April 24, 1942, Kathy lived a life defined by kindness, love, and a passion for bringing joy to others. She dedicated her career to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher in Kelowna, where she inspired generations of students with her gentle guidance and warm spirit.

Kathy was predeceased by her husband, Donald Charles Dolman and is survived by her children, Corinne Dolman (John Large) and Glenn Dolman (Rose), as well as her much loved grandchildren (Ben and James Dolman and Jessye and Taya Large), who brought her endless joy.

A true promoter of daily hugs and small acts of kindness, she was a friend to all and a bright light in the lives of many. Those who knew Kathy will remember her warm smile and the unwavering kindness she extended to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Kelowna Hospice, and her physician Dr. Butler, for their excellent care. The family is deeply grateful for the flood of friends and family that came to love on her in her final days. Her room was filled with joy and laughter from her many, many friends including the coffee goers and teaching colleagues, fellow scrapbookers and pool playing friends, her neighbours and the happy hour group from her complex. A special thank you to Karen S. who supported the family through every step of this journey. Our heartbreak was soothed by the warm and loving gestures that you all brought.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, with an afternoon tea, open house, at her daughter’s place in Lake Country (5341 Stubbs Road) between 12:00 – 4:00 pm. In honor of Kathy’s memory, the family encourages everyone to share a hug, a kind word, or a loving gesture with someone today—just as she would have done.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna Gospel Mission, a charity that was close to her heart and to which she donated often.

She will be deeply missed, but her love and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.

Condolences and memories can be shared with the family by visiting www.everdenrust.com.

Glenn and Corinne, I am very saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I enjoyed my Glenmore Elementary days with her as a colleague and then as a supportive parent when I had the pleasure to teach you both. Those were great times. I know you and your children will have so many happy memories of her and they will keep her in your hearts forever. I ran into your mom a while back and she was delighted to tell me how you both were doing and how much your kids meant to her. Her kindness and smile were infectious. She will shine on. I was so sorry to hear of Kathy's illness and passing. I had the privilege of having Kathy on my staff during my first years as principal of West Rutland Elementary. Without a doubt, Kathy was absolutely the most exemplary primary teacher that I had ever known. Her manner with chidren could only be described as magicaL- she was skilled, patient, highly empathetic, supportive, nurturing and positive. Any educator who was a colleague of Kathy was very fortunate, as her presence on a staff was instrumental in creating a positive culture for the group. Our deepest condolences to the family! - Terry and Hilde Schneider

She was also a fun loving and respected role model for the other teachers on staff. I am grateful to have had her part of my life. - Raye Swanzey

To Corinne, Glenn and families. Please accept our condolences on the loss of your Mother/Grandmother. She was a very special lady. Our Knox Mnt. hiking group will definitely miss our Friday morning coffee and treats, after taking TJ for a hike on Knox Mountain, but more importantly, we will miss her. One Christmas we talked Kathy into joining us for a shot of Fireball at 9:30 in the morning, she never did acquire a taste for it, but usually had a bottle around so she could pour us one, whenever the occasion called for it. Cherish your memories. - Dale & Janie Beaudry

To the Dolmans and family we are saddened with loss of Kathy. Truly, one of a kind, In my 30s from her assessment of my education, I honestly wished she would’ve been one of my teachers. In my 40s when she disciplined Glenn and I like we were savage teenagers I was humbled however appreciated being yelled at. we became more civilized after that experience.

Lara myself and the kids are sorry for your loss and will cherish our memories of Kathy. - Chris and Lara
