CRITCH, Patrick

CRITCH, Patrick

1958 - 2020

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Critch, aged 61 years as a result of a tragic accident at the Brucejack Gold Mine in B.C. Pat was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Mary Critch and by his sister, Brenda in May of 2020. Pat leaves to mourn his wife Dorothy (Long); his children, Lori (Mike), Amanda (Adrian), Sean, Jacqueline and David; and his grandchildren; his siblings Fr. Cecil, Yvonne Steiner, Fr Gerard, Fr. Frank, Calvin (Patsy), Ellie (Frank) and Wally (Darlene) and sister-in-law Daphne. Grieving Pat are his many devoted friends and co-workers in mining communities where Pat worked- Labrador, Grand Falls, NL; Sussex, NB; Thunder Bay, Ont; Terrace, BC; Marquette, MI; and the Brucejack Gold Mine, BC.

Pat grew up in Gaskiers, St. Mary's Bay. He was very gifted with his carpentry skills at a young age.

Pat was a quiet and a very kind, loving and generous person, so he easily made friends wherever he went. Mining became his passion at a young age, and his whole life was dedicated to improving his skills in that profession. He was well-liked as a co-worker and as a manager. He loved his family and did all he could to provide for them. He passionately loved his home province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We offer a special thank you to the hospital team in Terrace, BC, as well as Father James Dhiraviam of Sacred Heart Parish, who was present for the Sacrament of Anointing as Pat passed away. Pat was a spiritual man of deep faith. Donations in Pat's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. Due to travel restrictions during this COVID-19 pandemic, a funeral Mass and burial in the family plot in St. Mary's will take place at a later date. May his gentle and generous soul rest in the loving arms of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

An Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
