I just learned of Derek's passing and am saddened by it. I too worked with him for many years at BDC during which time he provided valuable counsel to a young manager. I was delighted to learn that he had begun teaching in Kelowna, which was his true labour of love. I'm very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Derek indirectly at BDC. Always a pleasure to run into him during those days. Good to know he enjoyed his teaching years so much. Mary Trethewey

So very sad to hear of Derek's passing. I was privileged to have him stand in for a professor for the occasional finance course. He was well loved by many. A great professor. Very well respected by all students and professors alike.

I knew Derek as a fellow OC professor. More importantly, I knew him as a calm, thoughtful, person who was respected by all. I'm very sad to hear of his passing.
