CARTER, Tyson James

CARTER, Tyson James

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Tyson on January 26, 2019 at Vancouver General Hospital. Tyson is survived by his mother Pam Nicholas, father Jim Carter, brother Brett Carter, sister Kacee Carter, grandmothers Donna Nicholas and Jean Richards-Carter and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
At age 15, Tyson was diagnosed with Schlerosing Cholangitis and his tragic death resulted from complications due to his failing liver.
Tyson was a mechanical engineering student at Okanagan College, and it was his work in non-destructive testing and his intellectual skills that directed him to that career path.
His loves in life were hockey, dirt biking and music. He was “that” guy everyone wanted on their team; whether it was sports, work or a social event. He was a cheerleader: an enthusiastic and vocal supporter of someone or something. He was a workhorse with a stubbornness that could only be described as fierce determination. And he possessed a quick wit to bring humour to any situation and make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Most of all, he exuded confidence and would not hesitate to speak up and speak out.
We were proud of Tyson and he will be greatly missed.
Special thank you to the medical staff at Kelowna and Vancouver General Hospital for taking excellent care of our son.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jumpstart, www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com.

Dear Pam, Jim and family. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will always cherish the memories I have with Tyson. Whether riding our bikes down to city park, hitting a bucket of golf balls or tobogganing down the hills at Gallaghers-Tyson was always good for countless laughs and making sure we did something new and adventurous every time we got together. Unfortunately I moved out of province, but you were always there with an open door when I came to town. I will always remember our late night laughs, trailer park boys and acting like typical teenage boys constantly being reminded people were trying to sleep.
Rest in Peace Tyson, you will never be forgotten.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Tyson's passing. He was a talented athlete who played hockey, for many years, with my son Jeff, and I feel fortunate to have taught Tyson at KLO. He -and sidekick, Nick- brought a smile to my face - every day- through their humour & wit.
My thoughts are with you all.

Carter family, so sorry to hear of Tyson's passing. Although we weren't close in high school he recently reached out to me to connect and I had the pleasure of getting to know him a bit more the last couple years. He was truly a light of life and will be missed by many. I will cherish the high school band trip memories all the way through to the time he joined me at Big White a couple years ago. My sincerest condolences.

Dear Pam, Jim, Brett and the rest of Tyson's family. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't think of my childhood without thinking of the many amazing and fun memories Tyson and I had together. Playing mini hockey in the basement, gaming, playing road hockey, playing catch, riding our bikes everywhere and countless other things. I was so lucky to call him my best friend for so many years. Even though over the years we grew apart every time we saw each other it was like we never missed a beat. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Today and always, may all the loving memories of Tyson bring you strength. We had the honor of seeing Tyson grow up into a funny, compassionate and caring young man. We will always remember him through the horseshoe tournaments we shared ( all the kids teams wanted Tyson on their team), Seeing him drive past our cabin on his bike and waving with a big smile, or coming to visit us at the dock for a quick chat. We recently saw him playing horseshoes with you, Pam and Gramma Donna and were moved by the time he took to spend with both of you. Tyson had such a big heart and was such a great person, We are so sorry for the loss of Tyson to all the Nicholas and Carters, wishing you peace and comfort during this very difficult time.

Very sorry to hear this news, and sending love to his family. Tyson and I were good friends in high school but lost touch afterwards. This summer I was sitting by myself having lunch and in true Tyson fashion he called out from across the room and waltzed right up to join me without hesitation. We had a great open conversation like no time had passed and caught up on the past 10 years. He seemed very positive and grateful for his life. It was inspiring and I've thought back on it often. The world is a bit less bright without that smile, but it made a lasting impression on many.
