BROWNLEE, George

BROWNLEE, George

Brownlee: George. With his loving wife of 66 years and family by his side, George Newton Brownlee passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2017 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife Pat; sister Joyce Bader; children Linda (Rick) Cichon, Doug Brownlee, Darlene (Ken) Rousom and Lori (Tim) Greer; grandchildren David, Stephanie, Melissa, Shawn, Tara, Ginny, Jessica, Timmy and James; and great grandchildren Destiny, Stella, Georgia, Sam and Ava. George is predeceased by granddaughter Christina. Born May 24, 1928 in Eston, Sask., George is remembered as a gentle, kind, hard working man. Moving to Kelowna at the age of 18, George met and soon married Pat. Together, they built a home where they raised their four children and welcomed family and friends. George was a dedicated employee of the City of Kelowna for 42 years, and was public works superintendent before retiring in 1990. Raised on a farm with his parents and eight siblings, George had a love for horses. He was a member of the Kelowna Curling Club and loved travelling, camping, fishing and country music. Upon retirement, George and Pat spent summers volunteering as camp hosts for BC Parks, where they enjoyed meeting and welcoming new guests. George was a quiet leader who was deeply devoted to his family, providing unconditional love, support and guidance. He will truly be missed by those who loved him. A celebration of George
