Zachary Maurice Boring
September 11, 2000-April 24, 2023
Zac was born September 11, 2000 in Salmon Arm, BC. After spending one of his best days since his cancer diagnosis with his adopted Booth family, he passed away in the company of his family in Vernon on April 24, 2023.
Zac was proud to be part of a HUGE family, including Mom, Andrea and Dad, Bert. His siblings Coreena(Jayson), Jason(Diane), Sean(Kirsten), Daine and Kristopher(Sabrina). He was “Uncle Wac” to Grayson and thought the world of his numerous nieces, nephews(and greats) as well all his cousins. He was also very close to his Auntie Sherrie and Uncle Sherman and Avery ( Big Zac attack!) , as well as his Auntie Madeline, and several adopted Aunts and Uncles. Unfortunately, in his young life, he had already lost two siblings, Shannon and Rodney.
Zac was quietly proud of the fact he had served 3 years with 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and has received a ton of support from his army family during his cancer journey.
Zac had the ability to light up a room, fought for the underdog, and helped anyone and everyone, whenever he could. He played guitar, video games(usually online with his brothers!) and enjoyed lively debates with anyone that could challenge his brain and wit. His smile was unforgettable, as was his appetite! His dream was engineering, then “maybe law or politics”. He had school, travel and life plans right to the end, and fought his cancer diagnosis quietly and stoically. Even when Mom and Dad knew he was hurting and not feeling well, his usual reply was “Nope, I am all good, thanks”.
A Celebration of Zac’s life will be held at 2 pm, Sunday May 21, 2023 at Trinity United Church.(3300 Alexis Park Dr, Vernon). To be followed by a tea reception.
Condolences can be sent to [email protected]. In lieu of cards, please print out a favorite photo of Zac and bring to the service for the family to create a memory book.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers can be made via gofundme,by searching for “Zacs memorial fund by Nicole Currie”.

The Boring Family -
i write to express the condolences of all of the Patricia family to you on the loss of Zac - far too soon of course. We are very glad that Zac was proud of his contribution to 3 PPCLI, and his family can share that pride. The regiment remembers that service. Zac’s name will be read out in the reading of the regimental list of the lost in the Sacred Space at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, on 11 November 2023. His name will also be listed in the last post list in the annual Patrician when that is published in March 2024.
Thank you all who helped care for Zac. You too will be remembered.
BGen (Ret’d) Vince Kennedy
Past Colonel of the Regiment, PPCLI
