Donald Albert Biner, 82, of Kelowna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 19, 2023.

Don was born on November 12, 1940, to Albert and Jean Biner in Penticton, BC. He spent the majority of his upbringing in Burnaby, BC. Don graduated from Notre Dame High School. He received his qualification as a Power Tool Mechanic at the Vancouver Technical School and was employed with Armature Electric for 42 years, working in Vancouver, Prince George and Kamloops. He met Sharon Young at the Burger Baron in Burnaby Heights, they married in 1963 and started a family.

Throughout his life he enjoyed the outdoors, notably camping, hiking, fishing, and running. He was an avid reader, one of his favourite authors was Louis L’amour. After his retirement he found a love of travel, which he shared with his family. He was a fan of the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Don was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Sharon (d. 2008).

He is survived by his sister Margaret Ewachiw; his children Wende Olfert (Kim), Gordon Biner (Lynnette Delisle), and Diane Neupert (Erich); grandchildren Trevor, Ashton, Donna, Abigale, Shawn, Cameron, Paul, and Elisabeth; and great-grandchildren Ariya, Kayleen, Logan, and Karsen.

Services will be held Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 am. at St Edward’s Catholic Church, 11123 Okanagan Road Ctr E, Lake Country, BC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to BC Children’s Hospital, www.bcchildrens.ca, an organisation Don felt strongly about.

We would like to thank the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their outstanding care of Don in his final days.
