BEAUDOIN (NEE HEEMSKERK), Margaret

BEAUDOIN (NEE HEEMSKERK), Margaret

Margaret Beaudoin (nee Heemskerk) was born January 7, 1954 in Kelowna, B.C. She left us much too soon on July 16, 2017 as the result of a car accident. She was the oldest daughter of Nic and Rita Heemskerk. She is survived by her loving husband Gene, son Jayden of Edmonton, daughter Allison, son-in-law Adam (Haigler) and cherished grandchildren Annalie and Cedar of North Carolina. She leaves behind her dear mother, Rita Heemskerk, loving siblings Ann-Marie (Dan) Reimer, Joe (Liz) Heemskerk, Cecilia (Rob) Vaile, and Tom Heemskerk. Auntie Margaret is lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her younger brother Freddy Heemskerk, father Nic Heemskerk and step-father, Leo Heemskerk.

Margaret met her husband Gene in 1984 while living in Burnaby. They were married on August 4, 1990. Margaret spent her professional career working for Credit Unions and was preparing for retirement from Envision Financial Services after 20+ years with the company.

We remember Margaret for her many talents, some of which include her professional seamstress and quilting skills, her meticulous gardening, and her love for biking with her husband. She was a devoted and selfless caregiver to her mother and step-father over the past five years after relocating to Kelowna from Surrey. Margaret found her true calling with the title of "Grandma." Annalie and Cedar truly gave Margaret an immeasurable amount of joy.

The family would like to thank everyone who has expressed their words of sympathy and offerings of support.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on July 24, 2017 at Ellison Community Hall in Kelowna at 4411 Old Vernon Road.

I am so sorry to hear of Margaret's passing.....she was always a bright light, even as a little girl. The Heemskerk family lived next door to us when we were all young kids, there were soooo many of them ,we loved those neighbours,!!! the older girls Margaret and Ann Marie and my sisters and I were all about the same age! We all lived on what was then known as King St,a dead end street that is now part of Gorden Drive ,both houses had about an acre of property and we roamed the back forty and built forts and had tea parties. I know my Mom kept in touch with Nic and Rita over the years. My late husband Reg and I just happened to be there on the tragic day that Freddy died..... What a lovely, accomplished young woman she became.... Margaret is gone far too soon.....

Gene, Jayden and Allison & family, we are deeply saddened for your loss. We weren't in touch in recent years but haven't forgotten the great neighbours you were beside us in our first house in Surrey. The kids had the run of the back yards with the connecting gate between our yards that Gene and Terry put in. I remember Marg always making something to brighten up the decor of the house and working full time. She was totally devoted to her family. From the pictures I've seen I could tell she was enjoying her life here in Kelowna and thrilled about being a grandmother. Gone far too soon.

My sincere and deepest condolences to Gene and his family as well as all of the Heemskerk family. Such a sad and tragic loss of a very kind and wonderful lady. I have been privileged to have known Margaret most of my life as the Heemskerk family were friends of my family. Although we lost touch through the years she lived out of Kelowna we got reacquainted soon after she moved back and was one of the first people to stop over when I lost my husband less than a year ago. We also had many pleasant conversations when we would both be visiting our mothers at Cottonwoods.

You were a very special one of a kind lady Margaret and will be missed so very much!

My sister, Ella and I last saw Margaret when I was down visiting my mom and sibblings at Easter. She surprised me with how young and good she looked and her caring attitude for Ella who was recently widowed. When we were kids the Heemskerks were one of about a dozen families who we knew well because we had a few things in common: few if any relatives, we were Dutch and most of us also happened to be Catholic too. There was a special closeness and we seemed to substitute for the cousins and aunts and uncles we never knew. When I saw her we promised that we would stay in touch and get reaquainted in the coming years. She was so sweet and calm, we couldn't believe it! I'm so glad we hugged and had such warm words because those were the last feelings that Ella and I would ever express to her. From the whole Gevers Family and all of the Rutland, Ellison and Kelowna people who knew her like we did, we express our most sincere condolences to Gene and family as well as the whole Heemskerk family.
