BATES, Karen

BATES, Karen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a very much-loved woman, Karen Bates, on March 10, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the age of 59. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Bud Bates, daughter Megan Bates and sister Kim Telford. She is predeceased by her mother, Betty Agrios and father, Michael Agrios.

Karen was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 7, 1959. She was a special, loving woman. With her infectious laugh, sense of humour and kind spirit, Karen brought a smile to all those around her.

Karen enjoyed spending her days gardening in her beautiful yard, and sipping wine at night, gazing out at the beautiful view. Karen and Bud spent many years together, traveling, boating and working side by side growing a successful family business. Karen was best friends with her only child, Megan, and would jump at the drop of a hat to do something together. Karen will be missed by all who knew her, and certainly never forgotten.

Always in our hearts!

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, to celebrate the beautiful life of Karen.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com.

    Dear Bud:

My wife called me to inform me that Karen passed. God, how that news weighs us down!

We are so, so sorry to hear this. Our memories of Karen will be of the vibrant, whip-smart, fun, funny, and beautiful person we knew her to be. She was always kind to Shelly and I. You found yourself a grand person to share life with. Fate plays dirty tricks to have her leave you and all of us so soon.

We recognize you need time alone and with family to grieve. However, know that our best thoughts and wishes are with you and your. If there's any way that we can help you with anything, we're but a phone call or text away.
