ATKINSON, Wilf

It is with profound sadness we mourn the loss of our beloved friend, son, brother and uncle, Wilf Atkinson. Born April 9, 1960 Wilf passed suddenly, but peacefully, on August 15, 2018 in Kelowna. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba he moved to Kelowna at the age of 15 to live with his sister Carol and her husband Dave. He remained here for most of the past 43 years.
Wilf was larger than life and would give you the shirt off his back. He was widely known as one of the first hot dog vendors working the downtown bar scene. Wilf spent many years working in local restaurants and cooking in camps throughout Canada

Wilf, I am so sad you are gone. This year I lost my mom and now you.. There are no words to express how broken up I feel. I loved the 'old school' of you as that is how I was brought up. We spoke of it often. You spoke your mind, and although that was not always what should be spoken out loud, I respected your upbringing to be able to speak from the heart.. Your heart was huge and maybe that is why it couldn't handle what you had to deal with. You shared your struggles.. they will not be forgotten. I will never forget.

I guess I was a catalyst, as you told me, for you on how to get work for KGH and I hope that was a good decision.. you had so much more potential than that, and so the Apple Bowl came into fruition.. You excelled. God bless your soul. Majda

My heart is breaking to think of the loss of our beloved Wilf. Debbie, Wendy and family, please know that I share your sorrow. I will always cherish the memories of our times together, at family gatherings and special times when he would return to Winnipeg. He was kind, loving, cared about his friends and made them feel like family. I am thankful he was my friend. You have my deepest condolences.
