ATKINSON, Court

The family of Gordon Courtney Atkinson is deeply saddened to announce the death of Court in his 90th year on December 30th, 2017 at the Glenmore Lodge, Kelowna B.C.

Court is survived by his brother Carson of Chipman N.B.; his son Bryan Walker (Patricia) of Cobble Hill B.C.; granddaughters Heather (Tony) and Lauren (Mark); great-grandchildren Nikka, Alexei and Sebastian Kopcok, and Samuel and Benjamin Hainsworth; as well as nieces Susanand Carmen, and nephews Richard, Joseph, Courtney and Mark, along with many others in this extensive family, who are too numerous to list here.

Court was predeceased by his father Gordon; his mother Hazel; brother Glenn; sister Carmieta; his wife Jess; step-son Thomas; brother-in-law Carl; and sister-in-law Doris.

Court was born November 16th, 1928 in Springhill N.S. and grew up on the family farm in Southampton N.S. Court joined the R.C.M.P. in 1950 and after training in Ottawa, was transferred to New Brunswick. In 1952 Court was transferred from New Brunswick to British Columbia following the dissolution of the former B.C. Provincial Police in 1950. Dear Heather and Lauren, we are very sorry to read of your Grandpa's passing. We met you at Kelowna General Hospital in September. Your grandpa and my one legged Dad shared a room on the stroke ward. Dad was in a wheelchair, recovering from a stroke and we shared some lovely moments with your Granddad. He was feisty and made us all laugh. When the nurses would ask him what day it was, he said, "Who cares?" and one time he and my Dad were trying to cheat and figure out the day and the date before the nurse came in and when she finally came and asked them, they both got it wrong anyway. Our hearts are with you as you celebrate this special man's life,

Sad to hear of Court's passing our thoughts are with the family at this sad time. We spent many hours listening to and sharing stories. Happy times were had by all.

My condolences to Court's family. My ex in laws Andy and Mary Kerckhove were very good friends with the Atkinson's. Court bought a Citroen from us. A very nice man.
