Deadly Stampede Kills 150

  • At least 150 people were killed in a stampede in western India Tuesday, triggered when thousands of Hindus panicked during a religious festival. The stampede, which took place near the village of Wai, some 240 kilometres south of Mumbai, was triggered after a fire ignited in a shop near a religious procession.Full story
  • In a report detailing prisoner treatment by Iraqi security forces, U.S.-based watchdog Human Rights Watch catalogues arbitrary detentions, dismal jail conditions and the routine torture of prisoners.
