  • Indonesian rescuers reported 10,000 dead in a single town and emergency crews in Sri Lanka found the twisted wreckage of a passenger train as the tsunami's death toll continued to spiral Tuesday.

    The body count rose to over 50,000 dead in 11 countries by Tuesday afternoon local time, with thousands still missing and more than a million left homeless.
