Marines Prepare For Falluja

Insurgents stepped up their attacks in the restive Iraqi city of Samarra on Saturday as U.S. Marines prepared for an all-out assault on the rebel stronghold of Falluja. A health official in Tikrit said at least 34 people were killed and dozens were wounded in the violence in Samarra, a Sunni city that had been a center of support for Saddam Hussein. Full Story
Palestinian officials said Yasser Arafat remained in stable but critical condition in a coma on Friday and denied reports he's on life support. The Palestinian leader is not expected to survive.
French President Jacques Chirac on Saturday ordered the destruction of government military planes used in recent days to bomb rebels and French soldiers in Ivory Coast. The French infantry destroyed two fighter jets and an attack helicopter on the ground at an airbase in the political capital, Yamoussoukro, a French military spokesman said.Full Story
