Trump pardons Lord Black

U.S. President Donald Trump has granted former Canadian newspaper publisher Conrad Black a full pardon.

Black was jailed for 42 months and fined $125,000 in 2007 after being convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice.

In a statement Wednesday, the White House described Black as “an entrepreneur and scholar” that has made “tremendous contributions to business.”

Trump cited Black’s supporters such as Henry Kissinger, Elton John and Rush Limbaugh. Black worked as a tutor in prison, the statement added.

“In light of these facts, Mr. Black is entirely deserving of this Grant of Executive Clemency.”

Black has been a vocal supporter of Trump. In 2018 he published "Donald J. Trump: A President Like No Other." He has lived in Canada since 2012 after his release from prison.
