Tropical storm Ernesto grew closer to regaining hurricane status Thursday as it churned over warm Atlantic waters heading for the southern Carolina coast. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said at 2 p.m. ET that Ernesto's winds had strengthened to near 110 km/h with higher gusts. Winds of 119 km/h would bump it to hurricane status. CBC News
