New Orleans Cops Plead Not Guilty

  • Three police officers pleaded not guilty Monday to battery charges after a weekend confrontation with a man accused of intoxication and with a TV news crew that taped it. A videotape made by the Associated Press Television News crew shows two patrolmen repeatedly punching a man identified as 64-year-old Robert Davis. The tape shows a third officer grabbing and shoving an APTN producer.CNN

  • Searchers were working into the night in an attempt to find more survivors of Pakistan's worst earthquake. The death toll Monday surpassed 30,000 and tempers flared over the pace of relief efforts. Aid groups and the international community responded to calls for assistance, but with much of the quake zone virtually inaccessible and bad weather impeding travel, help was slow reaching the most-affected areas.CNN

  • As donations pour in from Canadians and people around the world, Ottawa has upped its aid contribution for earthquake-ravaged South Asia to $20 million. International co-operation minister Aileen Carroll made the announcement Monday, saying some of the money will go to dispatching Canadian Forces aircraft containing 21 tonnes of blankets.CTV

  • A group of young Quebecers has decided to bare almost all in an attempt to strip away what they see as a misunderstanding about the federal Liberal Party. The young Quebec federalists said they are proud of Canada, and were willing to take a bold step in order to make their point.CTV
