2019 Blasted Church Hatfield’s Fuse

2019 Hatfield’s Fuse

Wine: Hatfield’s Fuse, 2019 (white blend)

Winery: Blasted Church, Okanagan Falls

Why drink it? Exciting things are coming to Blasted Church. A blend of 11 different grapes grown across the southern most parts of the Okanagan Valley, each one harvested and cared for individually before congregating together in the bottle. The nose begins with a soft sermon of stone fruits, notably ripe peaches, before spiced floral notes move in. On the palate, lemon, lime and Granny Smith apple provide a fresh window to a mid-weight richness, and the finish is a balanced breeze of citrus and the tiniest bit of sweetness, reminiscent of candied lemon peel.

Pair with: A discussion about the “wax-wash-auto” label featuring a red-winged angel (a Seraphim?) guiding a horse through a car wash. Or maybe a creamy chicken pot pie, fettucine alfredo, or a cod or halibut burger with a spicy tartar sauce.

Price: $20

Music pairing: Car Wash, Rose Royce
