Forbidden Spirits

Spirit: Forbidden Fire

Distillery: Forbidden Spirits, Kelowna

Why drink it? With the return of BC Distilled, an event (in Vancouver), that showcases spirits made in B.C., why not change things up with this sipper, or create your signature cocktail for 2022? From the Phoenix on the bottle to the distillery’s own description that it is a “libation for all new beginnings”, savour the spicy aromatics dominated by cinnamon, notes of chocolate-covered caramels and gourmet candied apples, the latter thanks to distillation entirely from Okanagan apples. Sweet, spicy, smooth and enjoyable neat, or over ice on a warm day.

Pair with: Apple pie topped with a cinnamon-infused whipped cream, or dribble this over vanilla ice cream. Your favourite bakery oversized cinnamon bun. Create a sparkling cocktail with apple cider, ginger beer, or ginger ale.

Price: $20 (200 ml)

Music pairing: Fire, The Pointer Sisters
