2020 Tightrope Riesling

Wine: Riesling, 2020

Winery: Tightrope, Naramata Bench

Why drink it? International Riesling Day is approaching. The grapes for this bottle were picked by hand and treated thoughtfully with some skin contact and stainless steel fermentation, the former providing a very light golden sheen, the latter an austere, dry, and refreshing wine. Aromas of lemon zest, Meyer lemons, white grapefruit, and tart green apples, with hints of wildflowers. The citrus notes continue through the palate as some minerality comes into play, with a tiny bit of sweetness on the finish that balances with bright acidity.

Pair with: Take out Thai food, curried deep-fried cauliflower bites dipped in a lemon aioli, spicy sushi rolls. Old school shrimp or prawn cocktails for retro night. Dishes featuring goats cheese, such as a lightly pickled beet salad.

Price: $23

Music pairing: Island in the Sun, Weezer
