Wine: Snoop Dogg Cali Rosé, 2020
Winery: 19 Crimes (available at select private and public liquor stores)
Why drink it? The label simply says California Rosé. This is most definitely a Zinfandel dominant pink blend with Grenache, and a touch of Pinot Noir. Bright pink bubble gum hue. The screw cap was tough to break open for some reason, as noted by others online. Strawberry cream, sour peach gummies, pink grapefruit, and some rose petal on the nose. Light and zippy, the grapefruit continues on the palate with the addition of vanilla, cranberry juice, and a bit of rip red cherry. It’s fruit forward and super juicy. And yes, this is a sweet rosé. The finish has some acidity to balance the residual sugar.
Pair with: Replaying that half-time show. Listening to your ‘90s hip hop playlist while enjoying a classic strawberry flavoured Freezie on your patio when the temperature heads above 30 degrees. Pie – cherry, rhubarb, peach or some combo thereof, topped with lots of whipped cream.
Music pairing: Drop It Like It’s Hot, Snoop Dogg
