Wine: Jagged Rock Sparkling Rosé, 2020
Winery: CedarCreek, Kelowna
Why drink it? From the winery’s Platinum Collection, this bubbly has the palest of a pink hint in the bottle and glass, from minimal skin contact during the winemaking process with Pinot Noir grapes from the south Okanagan. The aroma of strawberry cream candies lifts as the cork is popped, followed by pink grapefruit and further tart, freshly picked strawberry scents. Some stone fruits emerge on the palate, but the wine itself is dry and snappy, with a mouth-watering acidity on the finish. Great value for a sparkler to start off the holiday season or save for a summer celebration.
Pair with: A good brunch when you’ve grown tired of the traditional mimosa, especially if crab cakes are involved, or perhaps a shrimp cocktail if you do want to go old school. Pour as a welcoming sip for guests, or as a refreshing palate cleanser after dinner.
Music pairing: I Am Not a Robot, Marina
