2018 Liquidity Dividend

Wine: Dividend, 2018 (red blend)

Winery: Liquidity, Okanagan Falls

Why drink it? A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, the name of this bold red reflects the winery’s finance-themed name. Take some time with this wine to try identify the aromas and flavours from each grape. Blackberry and dark currants on the nose, coupled with some dark chocolate, and pencil shavings if you rest the wine in a glass, then give it a good swirl. Black fruits come through on the palate, some earthiness and vanilla are expressed thanks to French oak treatment. Full bodied and a bit bold, the finish is rich. Another year or two and the tannins will relax just enough.

Pair with: A meatier dish on a cool day. Steak, almost any lamb dish, even a good, hearty meat pie or a thick stew. A mix of bold cheeses as an appetizer or snack, both hard and soft. For fun, gather dark (not milk), chocolate of varying intensities and see which pairs best.

Price: $35

Music pairing: Taking Care of Business, Bachman Turner Overdrive
