2019 Mirabel Pinot Noir Rose

Mirabel Pinot Noir Rose

Wine: Rosé of Pinot Noir, 2019

Winery: Mirabel, (East) Kelowna

Why drink it? The bottle and its glass topper are both unique and elegant, as is the wine. Each vintage is an exploration – the 2017 is worth searching for – and this recent release was made in the saignée method with less than a day of skin contact, resulting in a light peachy pink hue in the glass. Inviting aromas of fresh berries and cherries with watermelon lead to a smooth palate with some creaminess. Expect citrus notes on the finish mixed with light herbaceous elements. A crisp, dry rosé that would be a perfect aperitif. Bring old world and new world wine styles together in one bottle.

Pair with: Rosé pairs well with almost any dish. If you are ambitious, look up a recipe for traditional beet-based vegetarian borscht with load of cream, get your kitchen messy and give it a whirl. Crab cakes, lobster dishes, or a salmon burger with lemon-dill mayo and a side of sweet potato fries.

Price: $21

Music pairing: River, Joni Mitchell
