Wine: Muscat, 2015
Winery: Township 7, Naramata Bench
Why drink it? If you are familiar with Muscat, you know that it has a beautiful, fragrant, nose that lifts out of the glass like fresh flowers being caressed by a slight breeze. Orange blossom, a hint of spice, with a flinty quality, stone fruit (think white peach). The grapes for this wine come from the Oliver area where the warmth brings out the distinctive, developing Okanagan terroir of fresh fruit on the first taste, but with a dry, cleansing finish. You may be hard-pressed to find a bottle, so hit up a friend who collects BC wine, or visit the winery to find out when the next vintage is coming.
Price: $18
Pair with: A great wine, chilled, to drink on its own as a meet and greet aperitif before a meal or with light appies, pairs well with Asian cuisine that is both spicy with a hint of sweetness. Thai food, a lighter/creamy curry, or salad rolls with peanut sauce.
