Foodapalooza catching on
Castanet's Foodapalooza is rolling right along – and filling shelves at the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank.
The summer viral video contest is catching on.
We asked local businesses to come up with the most creative and fun video while collecting food and cash for the food bank. Each business makes their own video, then challenges five others to do the same.
So far, we've had more than 20 videos submitted, and more come in every week. And you don't have to wait to be challenged – start now and challenge five of your friends.
At the end of the summer, our assembled brain trust will select the most amusing video and award that company with a $5,000 advertising package on Castanet.
The food bank's Tammy Jackson said, so far, the campaign has brought in $10,770 and 2,413 pounds of food.
"Let's keep this baby rolling!" said Jackson.
She noted the food bank is assisting in a number of areas affected by wildfires in the Interior.
Core items that are depleted quickly are canned protein, canned fruits and vegetables, hearty soups, pasta and sauce, healthy snacks, juice boxes, all ages of baby food, diapers, formula, personal hygiene products, and toilet paper.
The local food bank is accepting donations for all fire-affected areas.
