Opera in the Okanagan

Last year I had the privilege of catching one of Opera Kelowna's debut performance at one of our Parks Alive! shows. It was the beginning of an amazing journey and after 12 months of solid effort and community support Opera is rising in the Okanagan. This week we have four Opera performances in our community. There is truly something for everyone. Their signature event happens next Saturday at the RCA (buy your tickets here: http://www.operakelowna.com/#!buy-tickets/c18pk) but before we get into the details about next Saturdays event I need to share their flashmob that they did on Monday:

I also caught up with Alexandra while the students that are part of her Summer Opera Program had one of their first lessons, an on stage movement class.

As mentioned their signature event happens this Saturday at the RCA. Here is the information on the "A Summer of Love" Scene D'Opera  (great opera scenes) event:

Enjoy a summer evening with your loved one as you delight in some of Mozart’s most famous operas; The Magic Flute, Cosi Fan Tutte and The Marriage of Figaro, along with beautiful arias as well as the Flower Duet,  Belle Nuit and the Strauss Rosenkavalier Trio.  All scenes are performed in full costume, with beautiful sets and an orchestra, this evening will truly be a  musical feast for the senses.  Only one performance.

Conducted by Rosemary Thomson.  Special performances by Coloratura Soprano, Jamie Onwood as ‘the Queen of the Night’, Mark Wells, Mia Harris, Alexandra Babbel, an ensemble and students registered in professional University programs from across Canada who are in Kelowna participating in our Summer Opera Program.
Tickets can be bought for $35 for Adults and $30 for Seniors & Students. Go to www.selectyourtickets.com

This week they truly have something for everyone so if you can't make it to their signature show  on Saturday (which is amazingly well priced) check out some of their other performances around  the Okanagan.
