An Ode to Beer

Well folks the first ever Great Okanagan Beer Festival is only a week away. Here are some of the key events happening as part of our new spring festival:
The Main Event | Waterfront Park, Kelowna, 1-5pm May 9
Nestled on the beautiful beaches of Okanagan Lake and right in the heart of the city of Kelowna, Waterfront Park will become host to 41 breweries, pouring 118 beers and 8 ciders from across North America and the World. The tastings run from 1-5pm for an estimated 2,500 beer lovers on Saturday, May 9th 2015. For more information and to buy tickets visit: gibbonsevents.com/great-okanagan-beer-festival
Cannery Brewing’s Festival Launch Cask Event | Cannery Brewery, Penticton, 6pm May 6
A Penticton staple, Cannery Brewing has been a part of the beer scene since forming in 2000 and they’ve got some special casks on the go for this event. It’s currently undergoing a renovation, which means guests will either be raising a glass to say farewell to the old design or welcoming in the new. Sample tickets will be sold on the night – no cover charge.
Barkerville Brewing Dinner | The Curious Artistry & Alchemy Café, Kelowna, 6pm May 7
A craft beer and culinary pairing of three food courses and four beers from Quesnel B.C.’s new brewery, Barkerville Brewing. Tickets are $70 for this super exclusive, 30-seat event. Reservations are directly through the restaurant manager, Luigi: [email protected]/250-864-6110
Cannery Brewing’s Beer Breakfast The Salted Brick, Kelowna, 10am May 9 & 10
Get a breakfast of champions in before the Main Event, or potentially for the morning after. Ever had Blackberry Porter Stout syrup on your pancakes? Now’s your chance.
The Best In Fest Awards | The Train Station Pub, Kelowna, 8pm May 9
Our festival doesn’t hand out medals, we believe in building business opportunities and relationships for the breweries that are pulling out all the stops. Our top three placing breweries (voted by attendees at the Main Event, GOBF.ca/VOTE) will be awarded taps at the Train Station Pub, Mission Tap House and Black Bear Bar & Grill until next year’s festival.

I wanted to make a special note to thank Chad Douglas from Tourism Kelowna for reaching out to this event and inviting them expand their Whistler Festival to Kelowna. If you read this blog post it's pretty clear that the only reason this event is happening is due to the work that Chad did to attract this new fun event to town. Thanks Chad. http://www.gibbonsevents.com/blog/
