Peachland Making Waves festival runs this weekend

Making Waves in Peachland

There’s another reason to stop in Peachland over the long weekend.

Peachland's Making Waves Mural Festival is taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

The performance area at the Peachland Community Centre and Cousins Park will be full of continuous activity from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days for a unique, free, family-friendly way to spend the Labour Day Long Weekend.

One of the performances includes a nine-year-old Penticton accordion player Monica Nadj. She started to play accordion and piano in October of 2021. She will be making her stage debut on Sunday.

There will also be a three-hour art workshop by acclaimed urban artist and muralist Nereo Zorro on Sunday. The workshop will feature demonstrations of street art techniques and ways to tell your story in a visual format.

“It’s a hands-on workshop where participants will create their own art with the techniques they learn. An art table is also available for young kids to tap into their visual story telling skills. Attendance is limited, and all supplies are provided,” says Shelley Sweeney, chair, Peachland Community Connects Society.

All events are free or by donation, and family friendly.
