West Kelowna entrepreneur Tasha Da Silva has announced her candidacy in the upcoming municipal election.
Da Silva is the founder and CEO of Infuse I.T. Inc., a company focusing on point of sale services for retail and restaurants, and current president of the Glenrosa Resident Association.
“I am a strong advocate of collaborating with our business community to create new opportunities for growth,” she said in a letter sent to media.
“The economic health within our city directly affects the trajectory of economic growth within our community.”
She highlighted the housing affordability crisis as something all levels of government need to address.
“I moved to West Kelowna at a time when a single family dwelling was an attainable asset for a young family like mine. I’ve been lucky to have raised my daughter in such a wonderful community and believe that every West Kelowna resident should have access to affordable and attainable housing.”
Development, however, must be balanced with protecting the natural beauty of the city and environmental sustainability, she said.

Local government elections in B.C. take place on Oct. 15.
