Electrical issue behind empty coolers at Westbank Superstore Wednesday

Electrical issue at Superstore

Loblaw has confirmed to Castanet that an electrical issue was behind empty shelves and a cordoned-off cooler section Wednesday morning at the Westbank Superstore.

The company says an electrical issue on Tuesday evening caused refrigeration cases to stop working for a period of time.

“While we are back up and running, we did have to pull some product due to food safety concerns which will be replaced with fresh product,” noted an email from Loblaw Public Relations.

“We appreciate the support and patience of our patrons as we diligently work to quickly remedy the situation.”

The company did not explain how much food might have spoiled because of the electrical issue.

Unfortunately, the store is also in an area of the Westside that was impacted by a power outage Thursday.
