Thieves steal a 41-foot repossessed travel trailer from a bailiff company's storage compound

Thieves make big haul

The thieves likely used more than just an average pickup truck to steal this trailer.

On the evening of May 2, someone broke into the storage yard of North Central Bailiffs at 2900 East Boundary Road in West Kelowna. They cut the lock to the gate and pulled the travel trailer out using a newer model white truck with orange marker lights on the roof.

Company owner Mike Sundstrom told Castanet the reposessed trailer had been in the compound for five or six days.

He adds it's the biggest thing that’s ever been stolen from the yard. Recently, the only other property taken were a couple of catalytic converters.

The 2019 Grand Design Momentum 376TH (Toy Hauler) measures 41.25 feet and has a gross vehicle weight of 20,000 lbs. Sundstrom said even a one-tonne pickup truck is typically not powerful enough to tow such a large unit.

North Central Bailiffs is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the return of the trailer. If you have a tip, you’re asked to call 250-491-1033.
