Highway 97 reopens after crash on Peachland's Drought Hill

DriveBC reports Highway 97 is now clear in both directions.

UPDATE 1:35 p.m.

Witnesses in the area of the collision at the bottom of Drought Hill say the highway is blocked in both directions.

One witness who was able to get through says southbound motorists will need to take the Highway 97C turnoff and use Trepanier Road to get into Peachland.

He indicates a detour is available for those travelling north.

ORIGINAL 1:25 p.m.

Traffic is being impacted following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Peachland.

The crash occurred at about 1p.m. at the bottom of Drought Hill near Buchanan and Huston roads.

The collision is said to have involved a semi and a vehicle.

It's believe at least one person may be trapped as a result.

No word on the severity of the collision or how much of the highway is blocked as of 1:27 p.m.
