Vehicle goes up in flames in Boucherie area of West Kelowna

Car engulfed in flames

UPDATE 12:35 p.m.

A large vehicle fire Tuesday morning in West Kelowna may have been caused by a crash.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the car was fully involved in flames in a field nearby the Quails Gate vineyard, but the operators of the vehicle were nowhere to be found on scene, so RCMP were called in.

According to the investigation, the car appeared to have crashed and the people inside the car at the time of the crash fled in another vehicle.

The fire spread into the grass on the edge of the vineyard, but crews were able to knock down the fire quickly.

West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund wants to thank multiple members of the public for calling them about the fire.
